Guys just curious if any of you have an opinion. I have an M80 which looks as new and comes boxed with everything in it that was supplied when new. Unfortunately there is problem with the CD spinning mechanism. When it whirls into life it is very noisy. It does still play a CD but the mechanism is just too noisy to use.

Probably going to stick it on eBay but would appreciate opinions as to what is a fair price for a unit that effectively needs repaired?

I got a quote from a Meridian dealer to replace the ROM drive and the quote was £291 for parts and labour. Just for your own reference!

Thanks in advance.

Did the dealer itemise the costs i.e. split the parts and labour?
How much is a ROM drive today?

Well, I contacted Meridian direct about an intermittent fault on my F80 and they told me they stoped supporting it last year due to a depleted parts inventory, or words to that effect.

It makes me wary of buying another one but I would love something equivalent.

I'll keep going with it and see what developes. The problem is, it just sounds so good.
