Well done, did you use an SSD via USB on the NAS for Roon?

Russ,

No, just using the normal HDD single 2TB, which came with the TS251.

Sorry I think I grabbed the wrong end of the stick! I thought you were running Roon on the NAS but I suspect you are using it as storage only.

Oh ok, Roon will run even better if you use an SSD, you just need a small external (128GB) SSD that you can attach via a USB 3 port on the NAS, then download the Roon QNAP app and follow the detailed install instructions on the Roon website, you should find searches and edits will all run much quicker than using a NAS disk.

Cheers

Performance, any library edits, any searches or filtering will be much quicker on an SSD.

Russ

My music is on a NAS, and I downloaded the Roon desktop app to my Samsung laptop which uses a SSD. Runs ok though takes a while to start up. Do you think there is a role for the QNAP app you mention in such a set up?

Thanks /bt

Hi BT

No there is no need as you run Roon core on your laptop.

Cheers
