Just a quick question since it was some time ago I tried roon. Is there an option to buffer the whole song to Roon Core RAM before playback?

I'm considering the options and possible layout of roon. If I have a portion of my songdata on a NAS I would like to have the Roon Core (ROCK) machine doing only song streaming to endpoints rather than having to buffer constantly from the NAS.

The other options would be to put Roon on Docker on the NAS but I do enjoy having the MC200 today on its own LPSU etc. So it could be a step back in absolute SQ.

That's still a question for the Roon forum rather than here, but the short answer is no.

The Roon Core reads from disk and buffers the data in memory, this buffered data is then sent to the networked Audio Endpoint in bursts at a rate determined by the endpoint to maintain the buffer in the endpoint.

The only exception to this is when zones are grouped, in which case one zone controls the clock and the others are adjusted to stay in sync.

There is lots of discussion on this over at the Roon site.

Regards,
Carl
