Yes, that's a great move. The physical media business needs a boost and this could very well be it.
Now we need a plug in for our extensive Little Rabbit Barn Archive. Lol

The sceptics are in their straight away in the comments. But all they have to do is buy two discs and make a comparison. Vested disinterest comes to mind....

Of course we now need CD players that detect the MQA signal. Presumably current M spinners would upsample and destroy the MQA data?

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

I thought it said a standard CD player connected to an MQA DAC and analog or SE DSP's would fully decode and render the MQA file?

That's my point, Russ. Any CD player used needs to deliver bit perfect to the DAC or the MQA gets destroyed.

From what I have seen on the Mytec Brooklyn DAC you can have various colours, not limited to blue.

Yes, this is great news indeed!

I had been searching for the CES post somewhere a while back (never could find again) with Bob mentioning that MQA could also be applied to CD's. I can't quote it exactly but he did state "wait until you hear it on CD's".

I am not really looking to renew my CD collection but ownership does have it's advantages. The companies that have the tunes now that have come aboard hopefully are the ones Bob did not mention and maybe Sony also may dip in their toe to test the waters with physical media being now touted.
