Hi help welcome.

I am having problems installing Control:Mac on my MacBook Pros one is pre 2013 and one later 2015 model. One has ethernet port 2015 doesn't.

I can access the MC200 via it's IP address in settings is the Control:Mac button and I can download the installer.

The install progresses to the message 'Installing Control:Mac please wait' No further progress after that.

It is the same for both Macs whether connected by wifi or the ethernet for the earlier model.

The firewall is disabled as is the rapport security software.

Any suggestions welcome

Make sure you do not have any "leftover" files from a previous installation on your Mac's. I had this problem when I first installed Control:Mac several years ago and it took my dealer and a call to Meridian to fix the issue. Initially the only way we made it work was to create a "guest" account for Control:Mac. This he normal procedure for deleting a program in OSX did not remove all files. We had to use a additional program to correct the problem.

Thanks Jim

Following from your suggestion I downloaded Control:Mac in my Admin user account.

I was then able to download it in my user account.
I don't know why this works but it did.

I wish I could find a copy of the e-mail we sent to Meridian listing the "hidden" files OSX did not remove after I tried deleting then reinstalling Control:Mac. After we removed those files I was able to remove the guest account where Control:Mac would install and put it back in my main Admin account. Sounds like you have the same problem.

Try emailing Meridian support them at their support@m... address. They hopefully will get back to you this side of the weekend.

Thanks guys for all your help. I would have thought that if Meridian Support were aware of this problem they should have changed the install program to delete the files or have an uninstall program that you run before installing the latest software.

I will email Meridian Support as Ian suggests and if they give me the files that need to be deleted I will post it. Maybe someone could then put it in WiKi for other to use as necessary.

Reply from Russell @Meridian ... stated the update should compare the latest edition with the edition on the computer and download automatically.

It has never done this on my computer. I have always had to disable the firewall and manually remove Sooloos files from the firewall options list.

Rick @Audio Images recommended disabling the banking app Rapport/Trusteer.

I know I am not the only one to have this difficulty. Is this a rare or frequent problem?

On macOS (OSX), I recommend AppCleaner to remove all traces of a given application.

Have Meridian got back to you regarding the email you sent them yesterday?

Yes see above. Russell stated that there shouldn't be a problem but I have always had to install on a guest account with admin privileges and then install on my user account.

That's odd. Normally I do not have anything besides a Admin account on any of my MacBook's. I had to create a guest user to load Control:Mac after it failed on my admin account when it wouldn't delete all the file by dragging the program into the trash. (normal way to remove under OSX).

That is when I went to my dealer and we ended up with a call to Meridian USA. It would worked fine under guest but wouldn't load under admin 'till we used a third party removal tool for hidden Control:Mac files.

Hi! I have had the same issue over months now.

Tried to install with a new user, with LAN connection, with turned off OS X Firewall.

Solution which worked at least:

System Settings > Security > Firewall > Firewall Options > unmark "Stealth mode"

The names may differ, because I am using a German OS.

Good luck!

Benjamin
