What sort of future will Meridian have after Bob/ VK put it like this in another thread:

I'll say this in as gentle a way as possible: Meridian is no longer the company it once was. It still produces "retail" products (speakers, Ultra, 857), but I don't think that it will ever sell these in sufficient quantities to make the profit that it needs to in the post-Bob Stuart era. It's not done so in the past, so why should this change, unless it slashes prices?
For some time, Meridian's #1 focus has obviously been the custom install market. The evidence? No participation in "HiFi" shows; minimal/no advertising in HiFi magazines; new products and services clearly destined for the install market, withdrawal of engagement on this forum; failed UK boutiques (both of them); dedicated hires for its B2B relationships.
That's not to say that Meridian doesn't care about retail and won't continue to produce and support"retail" products which sound amazing; it's not just its primary focus any more.
Naim managed after Julian, Linn likewise after Ivor. Musical Fidelity still has Michael. Where is Meridian going?
Meridian have effectively been 'after Bob' for many years. Tim Ireland and now John Buchannan have been at the helm since possibly as long ago as 2007, if not longer.
What has possibly changed is 'After Ken (Forsythe)'.
However the secrecy has been around for as long as I can remember, as it has in many companies. Not sure why some people think that they have a right to know what's coming up when they wouldn't have that foresight with other brands.
What does seem to have changed is the relationship that the Moderators of this forum had previously built up with HQ now seems to have all but vanished.
It's always been Meridian's view that you buy on what you see now not what might come along in the future.
Yes, many of us have been left with a bitter taste having misjudged the future or reading something different into a statement made by Meridian or being caught out by a change in plan. The easiest way of Meridian avoiding this is saying nothing.
Yes, it's frustrating, and for some who have bought big into a brand and want to maintain that loyalty, even more so, but companies are allowed to review their plans and change them. Their growth or survival depends on their actions and tbh, speculation on the financial performance of a company does not do anyone any good - anyone who has followed Meridian for a long period of time will know that their financial results are not the strongest looking yet they have been around a good few years in one form or another and are still here so are doing something right.
Meridian owner since 1992 Prime & PSU, Focal Elear headphones, Roon (ROCK 8Gi5 NUC), Explorer 1 & 2, F80. 200/203, various Sonos (via Roon).

Well... they went very active on the Roon forum.

Yes, but the people at Roonlabs have a very different mind set to M ... when Sooloos 3 became Roon those of us that had been working helping under Meridian NDA where offered the opportunity to continue with Roonlabs. I'm pleased to say that relationship has flourished.
However, that relationship does not preclude Meridian on here. We welcome any input from the mother-ship. Sadly the main HH-Meridian driving force tragically passed away many, many, years before his time.
Since then I have to admit our relationship with M has not been very strong.

Yes Ian, I agree with you. Frankly, I wish that Meridian would say nothing about new products until demonstration models are with the dealers and the factory is ready to produce goods for sale.
But the point you miss is that Meridian or its agents have made announcements or promises of new products that have not been followed through or have been drastically delayed. I am thinking of the 861, HD621, 857, 258 and 218.
This was partly my point in starting the 861 dead end thread. They announced that the 861 would get an MQA upgrade but it must be 18 months later(?) and no further news on the delay from the suggested availability time.
A little update on progress update would be useful. If its taking longer than expected let us know its still being worked on. If they don't want to communicate directly through the forum maybe they should get one of their PPs to share the info with us.

This announcement document by Meridian from January 2015 CES2015 Guide For Partners clearly states twice that the 861 would get an MQA update later that year!
