Hello,
I want to do a Room Correction measurement on my 861v4, but I can't get any noise out of the speakers.
I have done speaker calibration with success. The speakers are working fine. I can set them up like it should be. When I get to room correction, I hear no sound from the speakers.
Is anyone familiar with this behaviour?
I use a Reviver, that sits behind the 861. The speakers are type 6 DSP5200SE.
I reloaded the firmware but that doesn't do the trick.

Can you describe what happens in the configuration application? Do you see it going through the steps in the little window? Has the app connected to your 861 correctly over comms? Volume?

Have you got the Mic in the correct input socket?

Switch the 861 to a "fixed" source such as CD. Then go into standby and try again.
Are your speakers set up to receive all sources from D1? If not that can also cause this problem.

The room correction starts like it should. Because the 861 does not produce any sound the room correction says it has not got a good signal.
In my opinion it does not matter which socket the microphone is connected to. Because there is no sound at all.
That leaves me wondering which card produces the sound for room correction. Is it the same as for the speaker calibration?

It sounds like the 861 stuck in a certain step in the MRC programm for me. - You can play music and have control. - You have calibration noise and comms controls. - You ave checked the input of the DSP that all sources go to D1.
The only "logically" difference for me between the calibration noise and RC-noise is that the 861 software is waiting for an sound input on the analoge card via the mic. As you get no RC-noise the error message comes up.
So for me only two possibilities: -The 861RC software part is faulty -The config file is faulty
So I would make that: Start two new files from a scratch-means complete new - DO NOT copy.
Only have two sources (ID40 and config an analoge source on A1) without HD421
First file with legacy 5200 (non SL) Second file with 5200SL
If that also not work I would call the mothership - sorry.

Are the Speakers Displaying 87 Volume when it goes to calibrate?
Who is the Master?
How are COMMs setup?
Sounds like a COMMs configuration issue to me.
Nothing to do with MIC (Yet), since you are not getting any sound out.
Without using the IR Remote Control, Starting with EVERYTHING in stand by (861 and Speakers) can you Select a Source from 861 and play music?
If you have for example two Masters (861 and one Speaker) you might be sending IR commands to both and have it "working" (with improperly setup COMMs).
But when the 861 is under control there are no simultaneous IR commands going to the speakers to make it "work" under MRC.
You did say Speaker Calibration is working, which uses the same means of controlling the speakers. So it's a bit odd that MRC does not work but Speaker Calibration does.
As a work around have the system playing music. STOP the Music and set speakers to 87 (DON't HIT PLAY). Don't shut the system off with the remote. Shut it off from the 861 and then try MRC. This would leave your speakers in the correct state for MRC even if the 861 is not controlling them.

Sorry to hear that.
Sorry to ask that again, does have the left front DSP a red light in the display? That is important as the red dot have to be in the Mconfig-file (what is it) and at the same physical DSP.
I checked now with my v6 and legacy DSP the whole sequence for you. At which number the dialog stops and does your DSP display(not the processor display) show that ?
Hit Start on the Menu "Room correction"
A popup window appear "beginn(counts)" and "cancel" and disappeared after the countdown finished.
1) "the product connected to comx is a Meridian ..." 2) "Storing..." 3) "Writing settings..." 4) "Reading documents.." 5) "Earising memory.." 6) "Storing documents.." 7) "Storing profiles..." 8) "Storing room corretion data.." 9) "Resetting product..." 10) "Waiting for product to reset.." 11) "Initializing product.." 12)"Selecting source...">> the DSP display show "CD 47"* 13)"Starting measurement of Front left(Music....) 14)"Setting volume to 87..">> the DSP display show 87 and the noise appear 15)"MLS measurent.." 16)"Calculating impulse response..." 17)"Calculation complete;power=-48dB, SNR=0dB." 18)"Set volume to 50.." Power is too low....that is the typical error message when the processor get no or a to weak signal
** The number beside the source is the "power up volume" what you have choosen in the MC-file.Maybe you edit that from "last valid" to a certain number. You will find that on the 861v4 when you make a right click with your mouse under "Properties" and then under "setup". Its also a good thing always to change that volume number as then its easy to see that the processor have go the mc-file correct.
What is on the display on your v4 shows during that procedure?
You got also a PM here.

I had the same problem in the past and was unable to get it working. Reading the suggestions in this post I am not sure I have the Master set correctly.
Currently I have the center channel configured as Master (the red light appears on the speaker), and all other speakers are configured as Slave (no red lights).
On the 861, in the configuration for Controller it is set to "Controller". The other options are: Automatic, Controller, Not controller.
What device should be the master, and what is the correct setting for the Controller in the 861?

Oracle64,
I used the wrong term above. In that you might have two controllers not two masters.
By default most everything is "Auto" Controller and you have to hit a Key Sequence on the Remote while everything is in standby for it to sort out who will be controller (it will choose). I forget the key sequence, it's probably in a manual and the WIKI.
If you set one device manually as controller (or not) you should set them all manually. There should only be ONE controller. I prefer set controller status manually on everything.
Master refers to speaker Master and Master should be the one you connect the Master Cable to from the Preamp. If using DIN or BNC that speaker that is directly connected should be set as Master and the rest slaves. If SpeakerLink it's the Speaker that plugged into the "Master" row. The cabling should match which speaker has the red light on. If it doesn't it may behave weird.
Often the Master Speaker can also be the controller.
The Controller is the device you want to receive IR commands.
You can end up with multiple masters too, which can work if done right, but can also cause problems.
When you mix legacy and SpeakerLink in different combinations it can get even more confusing/complex.

I turned the controller setting off on the center channel, and specified Controller on the 861.
I only have 3 sources (ID40, and Sat + Blu-ray connected to the HD621), so I created a CD source and connected it to the analog input.
I selected the CD source, and then started the room correction from MConfig. The results are similar to Robert's, but I also get a "Reading user type 1" after #4 and "Writing user type 1" after #5.
#8 Storing room correction data doesn't appear
#14 Setting volume to 87 is the last line to appear and then I get Product status error: st="Fail" Measurement failed
no sound is generated, and the process stops.
I am not sure what the user type 1 messages are. Maybe I should just start with a new blank configuration file and start again?
