I have had the 861 and the 5500 center set both to controller. This worked but of course the volume tracking was off.
I've set the 861 to controller and the 5500 to non-controller but now the DSP's won't turn on when the 861 is brought out of stand by. I've retyped the speakers and adjusted their settings in regards to 500 comms, left Slave, Right Slave, Center Master, type 6 but still they will only be controlled when both are set to controllers.
Interestingly when the 861 is set to no and the 5500 to controller then the 861 won't come out of standby.
Any ideas!

A broken connection/dry solder joint on the 5M lead comms (prob in the DIN plug) between 861 to 5500 master?

Also check that the speaker assigned as master in mconfig is the same as the speaker tbat is the actual master.

Thank you Bruce and George for the suggestions, It appears to be a dodgy Master cable but after multiple inspections it has come good. I will look into replacing all my cables soon.
