Please help!

From a technical idiot.

Sound from my DSP5200 suddenly becomes distorted and the yellow light on speakers disappears. Sometimes it is just 1 speaker and sometimes both. It happens randomly.

I play all music from MC200.

No idea what it could be.

Being a technical clown, the only way for me is to send it in for an overhaul.

Could it be a signal clipping issue?

Could be worth trying another source to prove the DSP5200 are ok?

Seems like you have the same problem when I first entered the DSP world.

Hopefully this Post on 5200 & MC200 thread may provide some useful info.

The problem is that I really don't remember how I fixed the problem, but it was not the hardware issue for sure. I think I re-typed the DSP from the scratch, updated firmware to 1.40, changed the digital cable, and the problem never reappeared.

Actually resolving the problem was actually really good opportunity for me to deep dive on the tech side of the DSP as a first timer.

Finally I got hold of the G08.

Installed and up running. Steady, non-flashing yellow light.

10 CD´s played without any sign of flashing light.
Guess this means I can rule out that something is wrong with my speakers.

When disconnecting the MC200 I discovered a random high pitched sound from its power supply. Don´t know if this can have any connection or effect on the flashing yellow light on the speakers.

CD 11 now playing without hick-ups

Inside the MC200 there is a ribbon cable that runs from the motherboard to the sound card. Sometimes one of the connectors is a little loose. It is a common cable in building PCs so if there is a good possibility you can pick one up locally. This is assuming it is not under warranty. Pay close attention or take pictures before disconnecting the cable as there are a number of adjacent connectors that the cable can fit.

Thanks for the advice, but from a handy point of view I´m best compared to a calligrapher with boxing gloves on.
I would surely ruin more things inside the MC200 than repairing.

What would a rough price from a knowledgeable repair shop be for shifting out this cable?

Depends. They did mine for free. Time wise it takes about 15 minutes
