Picked up an 818 on Thursday does anyone know how to turn off the unused inputs on the display when source is cycled through ex VCR1, VCR2, Sat, Game.

If you use Mconfig you can set unused source inputs to not present and they will be ignored.

I had a feeling that was how it would be done, I only have a Mac so will have to borrow a Windows laptop. Is it clear what to do in Msconfig.

Have you configured something using Config before? It's fairly straightforward but might take a bit of getting used to.
Depending on whether you've done it before, people here can advise further appropriately.
