Going back to Bruce's earlier question, was the 818 Typed according to the instructions on page 30 in this user guide?

As I recall, mine wouldn't show MQA in the display until I did this, even though I had installed the v4.00 firmware. I was testing the USB input at the time, but I just confirmed I can get MQA to work with files from the MD600 going to the ID41.

Thank you Soundserge for verifying that you can stream from the MD600 thru ID41 and pick up MQA. That's my setup so I'm sure I'll get it to work.

I'm remote now, but when I return I'm going to start anew by reloading firmware and retype and see if I can get to see the MQA files. I had retyped as "2 Variable" I thought before, but I also had changed configuration as well.

I had tried to set up USB and output MQA thru USB, but I wasn't sure I had the right software that wouldn't convert the files as it played them. In any event, I didn't get MQA display thru USB either.

Might I ask what software were you using to play MQA files thru USB? I'm assuming it was off a PC or Mac?

I was using Vox on the Mac. Strangely enough, I couldn't get the same software to play MQA with the Explorer 2. Am now using Audirvana for that.

Thanks for all the help. I got it working. A combination of reloading all the firmware and then retyping. My guess is that the firmware wasn't fully loaded-- it has multiple files and maybe one didn't fully "take" the first time.

Anyway, full MQA sounding pretty glorious through Sooloos streaming. Pretty limited to 2L's MQA download catalog, but that sounding pretty good. Here's hoping that MQA really catches on-- I agree with others' observations, that the real strength in the market is if it can be used for streaming high-res. I did note the the file size on the MQA is much smaller than some of the other high res formats. So hopefully the market will embrace that as an efficient way to stream high res.

Anyway, thanks again for all the help. Love this Meridian community. Just invaluable!
