Hi Ian, I'm just checking this out for you with HQ. Have you go a way of using RS232 control over the distributor 1? Thanks, Peter

You'd need a phono stage still, wouldn't you?
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

My plan was to use it connected to the SL input on the speaker (with the MS200 feeding into it), so:
MS200 and LP (via a RIAA preamp) into Distributor 1 and into SL input of the 5200.
TV, Sky, Bluray into 568.2 and into SPDIF/Comms input of the 5200.
I reckon then I don't need RS232 - assuming it will switch on the comms in the SpeakerLink.
Main: Roon-Mac, Oracle Delphi/SME 309/Cadenza Blue, GSP Reflex C, 218, DSP5200SEU, Sky Q, Samsung 49KS7000 Office: Roon-Mac, Quad Vena 2, DALI Opticon 1 Prototype and learning: 101, M30 mk1 Next project: Vintage LS3/5A, QUAD 303

assuming it will switch on the comms in the SpeakerLink. I think that you need to check that assumption...

I reckon then I don't need RS232 - assuming it will switch on the comms in the SpeakerLink. Hi Ian, The word from HQ is thus: You won't need to worry about RS232 control. The Master speaker acts as the Controller and send comms to the Distributor 1. As long as the relevant sources are assigned appropriately on the Distributor 1 and the Master, everything will work seamlessly.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you need further help. Thanks, Peter

Indeed I think that this little box is full of great possibilities, I'm just exploring the various configurations that it could do. Based upon my original interpretation of Ian's question. The Distributor 1 could be used as a ADC without either RS232 or SpeakerLink control. It can be configured using a command sent to its USB input to always look at the analogue inputs on power up. If you think of something, I'll see if we can make it work! Thanks, Peter

Is my understanding that the Distributor 1 source assignment cannot be configured correct? (From the sparse content in the Distributor 3 manual)
USB is mentioned for 'configuration' but the lack of any relavent documentation doesn't help.
i.e. you cannot use this to make a pair of DSP3200/M6 behave like the other dual input speakers can - multiple sources assigned to 'coax' and a single source assigned to speakerlink?
(For example, I have DSP5000's with a direct input from an MS200 and all other sources via a 568.2, so M6's + a distributor 1 would not be able to be configured as an equivalent)
Matt.

Hi Matt, Just so that I understand your question correctly. Am I right in thinking the following: You would be looking at M6 fed from Distributor 1 via Speakerlink. 562.2 feeds into the Digital Input of the Distributor 1 MS200 feeds into Speakerlink Input of Distributor 1
Is that correct or have I missed something? Thanks, Peter

Yes - (with the 568.2 spliced into the speakerlink connection for comms to synchronize sources)
The question is for each source, can the distributor (1/3) be configured which input is selected? (i.e. everything other than AUX/SLS is digital in)
Matt.

Hi Matt,
I will check with HQ before committing to my answer below. However, my initial thoughts are yes, but how to do it is a different question.
With a DSP speaker with an IR reception then the speaker would control the Distributor via SpeakerLink.
With a Control system, an RS232 command would be sent to change source in the Distributor 1.
With a speaker that does not have infrared reception and RS232 is not being used, I suspect that you would require a PC connected into the USB input to tell it to switch.
I will confirm this answer with HQ.
Thanks, Peter
