Is it better to connect the MS600 direct to 5200.2 speakers or through the AC200 to 5200.2 speakers.

The reason I ask is I'm upgrading from the 3200 and don't know if to sell my AC200 at the same time.

Sell everything and buy a pair of 5200SE.

Seriously, buying a pair of 5200.2 right now is a bit of a weird move.

If the MS600 is the only source, yes. If you need other inputs beyond those on the DSP5200.2, then keep the AC200.

Defer decision until the latest piece of jigsaw puzzle is revealed (or not) at CES.

Sorry, wasn't being flippant about the SEs, of course it's a big investment.

As the 5200 has both SL and Phono inputs, you can run both in parallel.

AC200 SL (only one cable) to Master DSP5200
MS600 SPDIF to Master DSP5200
Configure the speaker to use D2 for the MS600 source
SL from Master to Slave DSP5200
SL from MS600 to AC200 for Comms

I've done all of that apart from the latter point, but if the AC200 works likes everything else, I think it'll work fine.

Spoke to a Meridian dealer who reckoned the filters in the AC200 improved the sound of the MS600, I don't use the other inputs on the ac just Sooloos so I'm in a quandary to sell it with the speaker or keep it for the possible sound improvement.

I have run this set up previously and it was PDG until Hectorson purloined the MS600 due to his requirement for legacy comms to DSP5Ks.

MS600 is a very flexible unit and as zones, (both digital and analogue) proliferate I will not be dispensing with (Hectorsons) mine.

MS200 today, is a lesser substitute for MS600, but speculation says there will be a new MQA versions along soon. Just hope that MS600 MQA upgrade is given due deference.

Emailed Meridian to find the answer and received a prompt and concise reply.

Plus the obvious ability to add extra local sources if required.

I think I will keep the AC200 till I can upgrade to 818 control.
