Hi,

As John suggests, the output should be set to 6 channel. Also, check how you're connected to the G68.

Hello all,
Thanks for taking the time to replied my post.
I have try all the suggestion, even update the firmware, and nothing seems to work.
I think I have an incomparable BD player for Meridian.
Could someone suggest BD player for around $300 dollar that works with Meridian?
Thanks.

I have looked at the manual and it seems you should be able to get the advanced codes via in PCM over HDMI.

Page 33 indicates you should be able to get up to 7.1 through HDMI.
Page 46 covers how to change output settings using the audio button on the remote.

Have you played with these settings?

Hello all,

I just brought Oppo 103 today.
Connected to HD621, still no surround output.

I have rewire connection from HD621 to G68 as follow: 1/2 to main, 3/4 to center, 5/6 to surround. Now I hear sound coming out of surround channel.

I was missed inform by my dealer to connect 7/8 to surround and ignore 5/6 output.

If I set output to 8 channel in HD621 property, does 7/8 signal gets output as surround? Or, is 7/8 channel is future use?

Thanks.

Do you have 5 or 7 speakers? Are you getting sound from 5 speakers or just the front and center? Do you have a sub? I only have 5.1 so am speculating based on what I THINK I have read in the past. If you have only 5, are you getting 5.1 now? Your processor won't do 7.1 but spreads the 5.1 rear/side signal to the back speakers IF you made the proper choices in setting things up. Don't ask me how😀 It should all be in the manual.

Hi,

Your G68 can only accept a 6-channel (5.1) input (on MD-1 or MD-2), so you need to set the HD621 to accept 5.1 on it's input from the BD player. As James has suggested the G68 cannot accept an 8-channel input (7.1) _ you'll need an 861v6 or v8 processor to do that.

As per the above, you need to think about how HDMI works.

Set the Oppo to output multichannel LPCM over its HDMI output and disable secondary audio. Set the HD621 to 6 channel mode. It will then tell the Oppo to send just this over HDMI.

The HD621 will then strip out the audio from the HDMI stream and transmit it to the G68 as 3 x SPDIF into an MD input.

I have this exact setup and it works perfectly. The only "trick" was to understand which outputs on the HD621 correspond to the MD channels on the G68 as they are marked in different ways.

It does sound like a HD621-G68 interface configuration error.

Are you using the Config program to make changes? If so, are you saving both the HD621 and G68 changes to the respective devices?
