I could do with some advice on which rack will nicely fit/display 500 series components? When my plans for world domination are complete, I'll have 5 units to ahow off (currently one and counting...!).
What is everyone using out there in M land?

In the 'nicely fit/display' category, buy whatever you like. If you want it to make a difference to the sound quality (improve it), then go for Mana. http://www.mana.co.uk/menu.htm

I use a tower from Stands Unique www.standsunique.com It is a UK company and has a range of units which can be configured to suit your own set-up (number of shelves, almost infinitely variable shelf height etc). I have had 5 Meridian 500 units in my tower, which has toughened glass shelves (strong enough to take a 557 power amp at 27Kg!) and I use the Isolation Platform on the top for the CD player (it has its own spikes for improved isolation). Stands Unique also make matching CD storage units and the Ash wood on my units are acceptable to my wife - sometimes an important hurdle for us audiophiles. ![[Linked Image from softronix.com]](http://www.softronix.com/ubb/smile.gif) [This message has been edited by 123hifiman (edited 05-09-2004).]

What is everyone using out there in M land? my equipment is in a boring old Middle Atlantic rack. i can't say i've ever seen "narrow" racks that are as wide as the M stuff. and if you upgraded to an 861 or 800 you'd be toast with a narrow rack ![[Linked Image from softronix.com]](http://www.softronix.com/ubb/smile.gif) . fwiw, imo, i don't buy the spikes and isolation stuff for digital M signals that are being reclocked at every juncture. ymmv, of course. doody.

Thanks all for your replies.
GaryG - not able/willing to invest in Mana at the moment, but I know the name and have heard nothing but good things.
123hifiman - the Stands Unique stuff may well be a possibility and I think there's a UK company that does discounts for AVForum members. Do you know which model you have?
Cheers, Joel

Joel,
For 500 series width, have a look at SoundStyle range Status ST 95. I used this in Graphite/Onyx glass for my 568/598 prior to moving to G's - fit and finish are good and price reasonable. Styling/finish were quite a hit (unexpectedly) with my g/friend - compact and un-obtrusive. FYI, my 'pre-owned' one is with my dealer's just now following p/x for a standard width one.
Cheers,
Andy

I use a Soundstyle Hifi rack and an apollo mezza soprano AV rack with my G/500 series combination. Both looks good and are well made. The Apollo rack is supporting an 80kg tv on the top shelf and a Meridian 558.2 AND 559 on the bottom. The glass hasn't shattered yet.

Joel, I have a Sound Tower in natural ash, with 6mm glass shelves - the dimensions are 81cms high x 72cms wide x 42cms deep priced at 319 UK sterling, according to the Stands Unique website under their "Standard Supports" list. A benefit of this unit is that it also easily accommodates Meridian G Series kit too (as G series is wider than 5 series kit) - for when you want to upgrade ![[Linked Image from softronix.com]](http://www.softronix.com/ubb/smile.gif)

Don't do it! You will be getting a G or 800 series in the next 7 years. Trust me.
It took me less than 5 years to go from a 565 to a 568(.1) to an 861, soon to be v4.
This disease is terminal on your wallet, but sweet suffering.
