In this thread I see longtime M fans practically begging M to help them justify the expense of an 818v3 upgrade. M's inability to articulate even the most basic value proposition along with the launch of such a fine (and by most reasonable interpretations expensive) product is mind blowing. Get it together, Meridian. A fan. I think this needs restating... If Meridian want to succeed let alone survive they need to come to grips with a few simple concepts relating to marketing and also customer service!
Finally the proud owner of a 218 and 3200's... Will they grow up to be an 818v3 and 8000 se's??? Isotek Sigma Evo 3 power conditioner

+1 but don't hold your breath. I hate to say this but Meridian have developed an antipathy towards previously loyal customers and many very decent past distributors.
Survival may dictate this strategy but it is a steep slippery slope with all the eggs in the custom install and so called Meridian Partners market.
I hope this is founded on foresight but fear the effects of hindsight.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound very good.
I had been considering my next upgrade as an 818v3 then 5200SE or 7200SE, however, I'm now considering other brands. Brands with a little more spring in their step and appreciation for the customers who keep them in business.

818v3 + 5200SE or 7200SE IMHO is about as good as it gets here right now. It would take a lot more hard earned cash to emulate this in a 2 channel system.
But you pay up and take your chance. Pay more and the law of diminishing returns can easily empty your Bank Account. Pay less and you could be very disappointed.

Are you buying/upgrading because you want something which sounds great, or with a perceived company ethos which you admire?
If you're going on sound quality, for 2-channel, these are still extremely good - sounding components, hard to beat IMO.

Brands with a little more spring in their step and appreciation for the customers who keep them in business. You will be buying off a dealer not Meridian. If you demo those products, I think you will be blown away compared to what you have. So I would suggest you stick with a dealer who spends time on the forums and you will be ok. Grievances around Meridian, I would say are more to do with killing off Sooloos, killing off the 808.6. If you are not caught up in this then I wouldnt get bogged down with it. The 818 and SE speakers stunning products. Just dont expect them to be updated on a yearly basis. Cheers Greg

I agree, while I share some concerns over the future direction of Meridian’s traditional products, my setup sounds sublime. The reality is their products sound amazing today and still will ten years from now.

Agreed. In fact, their products from 20+ years ago still sound better than most of what is out there today, in my experience.
