Hi,

As my listening room got bigger, I was looking for more scale and some extra bottoms, and was thinking about exchanging my DSP5200(non-sl) with DSP7000, but just got an offer to trade my 5200 with his DSP5500.2.

What should I do? (As you can see, only music for me, no HT)

Thank you.

If you like your 5200s, why not just add a subwoofer?

IMO bigger is not always better, over all. Chris G advice is spot on.

Just my POV

The technological leaps achieved in later DSP models (greatly increased power of the DACs in SE mode, EBA (enhanced bass alignment), apodising, MQA compatibility, SpeakerLink) would mean that I can only suggest finding a pair of 7200's and upgrading them to SE or dare I suggest, 8000's and doing the same.

The reason I love the 7200's and the 8000's is that they are large enough to have serious bass 'ooomph' with an integrated crossover, designed by serious audiophiles to play digital audio the best it can be played. There is no subwoofer required in my main listening room.

Since you've mentioned you've moved into a bigger listening area, I think you owe it to yourself to audition higher up the range.

Thank you all for comments and advise.

Actually I was looking for a sub that fits my system, but it was difficult to find one in my country.

Guess I will pass this offer and keep on looking for sub, although it wont be easy.

7200SE or 8000 would be my option after I win the lottery.
