I've discovered since the recent Sooloos update (and I asssume there's a causal connection) that I can no longer rip CDs, either via my C15 or via Control:PC.

The C15 begins ripping ok but stops dead at between 10 and 30% of the import - the transport spins down and then nothing, and I have to reboot it to retrieve the CD.

Control:PC does something similar: it recognises all the tracks and will rip the first one or two (i.e. about 10-20% of the CD) but then nothing.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any tips? Needless to say, I've rebooted the system completely several times.

Main: MD600 > 818v3, Stax T8000/SR-X9000, SME 15/IV, PS Audio Stellar Phono, Musical Fidelity A3cr power amp, Dynaudio Special 40s.
Study: MD600 > Moon 300D, Stax SRM-3/Lambda Classic.

Hi
Yes, I have just found this problem, C15 will not rip CD.

CD inserted
CD detected
Meta Data Found
Press Continue
Progresses on one disc tried, to 20% complete, then stops
Second disc tried progresses to 14% complete then stops

Reboot required of C15, necessary to recover disc.

MD600 Core and Store and C15 Core and Store disabled have been hard rebooted to no avail.

Contacted M at 11:21, but no one available to take call, asked for a call back.

I will post again if I have any news.

Hello,

We have confirmed this problem and we're working on a fix. We're fairly confident that we'll have something to release in the not-too-distant future. Update to follow.

Naturally, we offer our apologies for the inconvenience caused in the meantime.

Thanks Des

No need to call me, just resolve this issue ASAP. Still have hundreds of discs to rip.

David

Is it just me who's feeling pretty irate about this?

This 'update' has rendered a key part of my pretty high-end equipment effectively useless. How much testing actually happens before some programming genius decides to foist this nonsense on us? This is roughly equivalent to a luxury car manufacturer releasing an 'update' to one of their cars which means the fuel cap can no longer be opened...

And as for the tone of the response:

Seriously??? Umm, this is the kind of thing they teach at business school as an object lesson in how to destroy your brand.

You can still rip with dBpoweramp and import folders with Control:PC as I have done so.

If I may be so bold as to suggest to M, there is a wealth of equipment, knowledge and experience out here just waiting to be involved in improving the brand image.

Please consider utilising this free resource in order to avoid future co.. ...

It would be nice to roll back an update if it turns out to be non-functional...

That sounds like a good idea!

I deleted my post saying I couldn't get mine to work, as M were quick to point out the problem.

I still have a lot of CD's to play smile It's no big deal for me.

I found this too, okay it's not great but "irate" seems too strong for me.

It's a bit of a first world problem really.

M were compelled to release an update to fix Tidal (a more serious issue foisted on them from externally) on a tighter timescale than I guess they normally would have done.

Give them a bit and I'm sure they'll have it fixed.

As others have said dBpoweramp is always an alternative if you have it.
fwiw I have had numerous problems with software in Audis and Mercs, HP had to do a worldwide recall (!) of barcode scanners due to a firmware flaw I found, so M are far from alone with gremlins in a modern complex software world.

I recommend a glass of port and relax enjoy some music in the meantime smile

My unopened Dows' 1970 will remain so until we get a fix. I might then celebrate.

Will need some good soft and hard cheese though.
