I am French excused my writing, because small pupil to write English...

I have just purchased two Meridian.
A dream becoming reality:
861v4.
800 CD / DVDS.
Being handicaped: I cannot drive more of one hours and carried by the heavy loads, I bought Meridian without testing them.

They arrived everything them two, but them did not work.
The seller has to guarantee that they worked in their departure....
I have an enormous doubt.
In brief I worked 50 hours on the 861v4 and I succeeded has to OK.

800, there it is more complicated, because I have several thing to be repaired:
- 2 cards of display defective
it is in region zone 1, while I require it to be in region zone two.
The multi-out MHR do not work.
No sound got out of it with CD and HAS DVD
Ok for DVD !!!

I asked the French importer for the big service to send these both firmware he is willing to send them to me, that if I sends him the invoice of Meridian.
I asked several resumed , for a week.
I always received nothing.
I explained my situation to the importer, but I have no piece of news.
I am can be a not interesting person or other reasons.

I am to discourage to find myself in this situation.

Is a charitable person who can send me the firmware for both units?

I know how to make an upgrade, because I am already an owner of the G61R.

That's sounding bad, but don't loose the hope.
You should post which exact hardware (cards) and firmware number you have and exact which problem.

You should split the problems and not test the 861 with 800.

Just take a ordinary digital source and report what is working and what not.

Do the same thing with the 800, connect it direct to the DSP to see which kind of failure is created from 800 and which are maybe "just" a communication problem between 800 and 861.

What do you mean with DVDs and "2 cards of the display defective"?

Start very basic otherwise your post is not understandable - at least for me.

Good news, I found the last breakdown which prevented the 861v4 from working:
It was the card 800-IA00.
There was a capacitor with a son of broken.( 1000 uf 16v )
It made bad contact and anomalies.
It has firmware 861-425, is it necessary that I the upgrade?

For 800 it's getting more complex:
Breakdown : 2 cards display fixed behind the facade.
It is confirmed, because it works with the cards of the 861v4.
I have not managed to put the reader in region zone 2 or free yet.
It has firmware 800 : 2.48.

It sounds like you making good progress with the hardware faults.

I you need specialised help think it would be worth you contacting ChrisJC M-RepairShop see his post Repair, service and upgrade of Meridian legacy products.
Chris does a great job and a lot of people use his services which does tend to make him quite busy. I'd suggest emailing and/or phoning him.

As for firmware speak to your local dealer if you have one, or contact one of the HH friendly dealers that post on here and I'm sure someone will sort you out.

One thing to be very careful about is updating the 800 firmware to the correct RS232 port(s) on the 800.

I managed, after many attempts, to put 800 in to region zone 2.
800v3 - Setting Region Free? I followed this advice precisely.

I put my G61R with 800.
Things always curious takes place:
DVD playing / out aux = OK
DVD playing / out Multi = not

Playing CD = OK
Playing DVD-A = not / Sound = not.

The patience and the perseverance pays with Meridian.
To make the works I bought another 861v4 out of order and bought by other one components.

The 861v4 is perfect .

For your reference :
with card : OA13 + OA03 + OA03 , I drives all my speakers : 7.2
OA13 = L+R+C
OA03 = SL + SR + Sub 1
OA03 = RL + RL + Sub 2

The Meridian 800v3 .
Software : 800v3 package version="1.3"
It sings finally :
96k 24-bit MLP 5.1 : Disc DVD-A - Bleu man group - Audio
Change : Power - Display - Card 800-C00 and upgrade Software + region

I noticed at with me anomalies in the advice Meridian M-config for Cards :
M-Config 800v3
CO00 @ 1-2 : OK
OE22 @ 3-4 : Problem of crackling , The good place found : 5-6
DV20 @ 13-14 : OK
DV02 @ 15-16 : OK
DV12 @ 17-18 : OK
VE00 @ 19-20 : Change for 21-22 . Information found by the reading of photos and to manage better the heat
TM10 @ 26 : change for 24
