Hello,
I have configured my Meridian 562v3 to type 1, and set controller mode to Con.
I have connected my CD player to A2 and the main analogue out to my amplifier.
Somehow I cannot control the volume output on the Meridian.
Please help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks.

Hello
You have to configure the DAC mode to variable analogue output. This can be done in the configuration program on the computer. Or maybe you can program it with the front keys but that you can read in the manual.

Hello ThePioneer,
I have tried your suggestion, and still cannot control the Volume. I have connected to Main and Tape output, and the volume just goes straight through which cannot be control. By the way the Variable option is only available in configuration program.
Thanks.

It's been a while since I played with 562v and 562v2.
I dont think you can do what you want. IIRC from 562v2, main analogue out became true analogue passthrough, previously it went through ADC/DAC conversion, and was intended to connect to analogue in on another preamp/processor. The DAC volume only affected tape out and I think that was only with the optional 517DAC. Whilst 562v2/3 integrated some of 517 functionality, it was not all and iirc variable volume was omitted.
In short, 562 is not an analogue preamp (look at 501/502), it is really a controller and switch where volume control simply sends volume commands to other digital devices along the chain.

In the manual there is a possibility to use it as a preamp when a 517 is placed. They come as standard with a v2/3.
Did you have setup that the 517 is placed in the unit?

The 562v2/3 does not come with a 517 as standard, they come with some of the functions of the 517 integrated into unit but not all. Iirc that one of the things that 517 offered that similar integrated functions in 562v2/3 did not include was variable analogue out.
Worth pointing out that 517 equipped 562's were not very common and without opening the box and physically checking for the board, it was not possible to know if 517 was present short of trying it. To make matters worse, the firmware catered for all variations and was not aware of what version or options was actually fitted. I had 562v2 firmware in a vanilla 562v, yet it gave me all options for both 562v2 and 517.

I did not know that. I read at Duncan's site that a 517 comes as standard. It was also written in the white papers.
I recently purchased a V2 and that has got a 517 indeed. My V1 hadn't got the 517.
