I downloaded Roon and configured on Mac. My Sooloos zones all showed up and I configured them in Roon menus... they all promptly disappeared in my Sooloos network - all end points dead!

Why is this?

Anyhow reversed it back and configured Roon solely on Meridian Explorer and all is fine again.

Thanks
regards
Huw

I spoke to Roon today. It's a bug in the software which they are addressing.

If you un-select them in Roon they should be available from Sooloos again.

But I agree it could work seamless and smooth with some love here.

Crion, That is correct when the zones are deselected in the Roon settings they come back to the Sooloos network but this was not what I expected , nor is it desirable.

It means the only Roon functionality resides on my Mac - nowhere else- and thus not terribly useful. What happened to this multi- device anywhere functionality.

Unless it changes I will not confirm by paid subscription - it just does not do enough.

Or any other PC/Mac on your network with Roon [in remote mode] installed.

Tablet support is coming ... it's just not quite ready to be let lose on Joe Pubic yet.

Carl

Yes but just functioning on other networked laptops does not deliver anything really additive ( at least to me)

OK networked to iPad and iPhone could indeed be very handy- hope it comes soon.

The big jump though is full integration with Sooloos and reading between the lines , this is not a given, in fact some indications suggest probably not.

Tidal has given us a positive glimpse of the future in terms of its look and feel vs the Sooloos interface. My fellow family users here much prefer it - ok that's also quality related vs Rhapsody.

The expected integration of MQA on Tidal makes this broader subject open to ever more questions. Technology marches, on but most of us on this Forum have made some pretty heavy investments in hardware in pursuance of perfection in musical reproduction.

Best regards
Huw

Roon can stream all the music you point it at to many audio devices including Meridian/Sooloos endpoints.

However, when Roon is configured to use them the Sooloos core can not until the given endpoint is unselected from Roon. This is not how it is supposed to be mind, there is a bug and Roon are looking at it. The goal is that once Roon (or Sooloos) stops streaming to a given endpoint then it become available to all systems again. Then it's first come first served. Just like using a shared printer in an office only one document can be printed at a time.

Now I know that there where some problems in achieving this and Meridian in collaboration with Roon made some changes to the Meridian endpoint firmware it was listed as a maintenance release. Before this the endpoints had to be isolated for them to play ball. So progress is being made.

So just for the time being, if you want to run Roon and Sooloos on the same LAN it's best manually enable/disable Meridian endpoints on Roon as required ... note it's only a mouse click to do this.
