After a power failure, my 861v4 will not power on. This happened once before and it turned out to be a failed power supply in the 861. That time I was able to ship the unit to Meridian in Atlanta and had the power supply replaced. That was back when Meridian was still talking directly to end users.
Now, as we all know, Meridian has pushed all customer communications to their partners. I live in Los Angeles, CA and would have gone to Weinhart Designs but he has now dropped Meridian products.
Does anybody have suggestions on who to contact for repair service.
I had somethiny very similar with my 861v4 a couple of weeks ago.
Shipped the unit back to Meridian, who happily put a hole in my credit card and replaced the broken PSU with a shiny new linear PSU.
Have to say, I'm genuinely surprised by the improvement in sound quality that's resulted. Based upon the comments, was expecting one of those "can I tell the difference..." moments. That's NOT what I got. What I got was a lot of additional texture and an even smoother sound. Absolutely gloriously lovely.
Let me put it like this, if you have an 861v4 and haven't yet spent the cash, go get one!

My thanks to everyone. A linear power supply along with a Meridian health check, and extended warranty, have been on the planning list for a long time. The failure pushed it from planned to "just do it". My 861 is now at Marc's shop for repair, upgrade to linear power supply and the afore mentioned health check.
I miss it terribly and look forward to having it return.
After a recent power surge that killed my left DSP6000 I have been payed out by insurance to have the DSP6000 replaced and unfortunately signed a discharge of any further claims as a result of the incident.
Now my 861 won't power up after I switched it off at the back last night. As this was only a couple of weeks ago I think they're related but I'm SOL having signed the discharge.
I'm hoping it's just a power supply, and it was still working yesterday with my single DSP6000.
I'm trying to recall. When switching it on at the rear flip switch did it display something immediately? Or only when a source was selected? Is there any testing I can do to confirm a dead PSU?
I had it fully services by Meridian in 2008 and non of the bottom buttons worked since but I lived with it as I'd moved to New Zealand,
Any idea of the cost for a replacement PSU, particularly the linear one?
It feels like my system is at the end am so missing it!
Have been emailing Chris at a Meridian repair shop but no reply yet. Will try calling him soon.
If you want to have the linear PSU fitted then that is an upgrade and I would contact a dealer. If you just want to replace the existing power supply then it is something you could attempt yourself and they cost around £40 - £50.
I thought Meridian repair shop was the option for legacy products as this is an 861v4. Any idea of a source for the standard PSU?
I just checked after realising there's a user replaceable fuse in the power supply, but it's intact.
I've read of a few getting the linear power supply / health check / 5 year warranty. Is this only available from Meridian direct or via a particular dealer? Any UK recommendations?
It would be great if someone could PM me with the approximate price.
