Hi all,
My system has been purring along nicely for a long time. Little glitch now and then where I might have to reboot it (toggle power).
I was watching a DVR Recording on the TIVO and heard a little snap in the Audio and it stopped playing audio.
Turned up TV speakers and they were playing fine.
Rebooted G68 and sound came right back. I just chalked it up to one of those glitches. Which might happen once every 3 months and I suspect it's garbage that the TIVO sent the G68 and G68 just locks up on it.
But then I could hear a Fan coming from G68. G68 was very cool. Fan didn't sound very smooth. Turn it off at power switch and back on and no fan sound. Select TIVO again and I can hear the fan ramp up.
I never even thought the G68 Fan ever came on unless extremely hot.
I toggled it off again and on and let it sit in standby. A couple hours later, in stand by. I can hear the fan, not as loud, but I hear it.
So I'm not sure if it's always been on at varying speeds and the fan is simply going bad. Or something more complex is going on that a fan sensor is bad or there is something drawing a lot of power after the audio snap, but it's very cool. Or early signs of a bad power supply (which was replaced a few years back).
It's running completely normal and cool. It's just the Fan I've never ever heard before is now audible.
What do you folks think?
If it is the fan, anyone have a good replacement link?
Thanks for any advice.

My guess would be PSU. It could be getting hot and causing the fan to kick in. Nice to see you are still around

Just a follow up. It was the PSU.
I had Marc Koval do the repair.
I'm glad I had him do it because he diagnosed a bad computer board (from the bad PSU), did all the necessary caps, Put a new larger PSU and a new Cage to fit it.
He also did the fan as well.
