Greetings, I have the opportunity to buy a Meridian 557 in good condition for GBP 900. It will be used to drive B&W N805s. Rest of equipment is Meridian 588 CDP and 502 preamp.
Any opinions about this combination or about how this amp could drive these particular speakers?
Best, Rodelius

AFAIK the those speakers are quite efficient, and don't present a difficult load to the amplifier, so the 557 should be able to drive them perfectly well.
Not sure that 900 is such a good price though!

Prior to going the DSP route, I had 557s driving both Thiel and Aerial speakers, and thought they were great. No experience with B&W though.
I think complimenting your 502/588 with a 557 may provide synergy.
A common used price in the US for a 557 is $1200. I don't think you will find a better 200 watt/channel amplifier out there at a comparable price.
