Will Sooloos 2.2 and Roon access the same metadata base?
Meridian and Roon run entirely separate metadata servers.
Nic, I believe you are right but they share the same sources. I think in the hierarchy HP Connect/Roon pull from the external sources (AMG, MusicBrainz, etc.) and Sooloos 2.1/2.2 is derived from that.
Hello. Our apologies for the glitch in the metadata service. We recently moved it to a faster location to cope with rapidly growing traffic from new customers, 2.2 updates and the Tidal integration.
Murphy's law saw to it that there was a glitch coinciding with the Easter weekend and several of the team on well-deserved holidays.
We aren't done yet with upgrading this service; there is a lot of excitement and activity here around Sooloos.
That third line in Bob's post is something we have all been waiting to hear for a few weeks now.

Thanks Bob. Please keep us updated. Also, were the comments about a "traffic light" system seen? It would be nice to know by a few clicks on a web site if it is down, or something end user end!
The server might be up again, but the quality of the metadata is terrible for lots of albums. I imported several albums from Tidal into Sooloos over the last two weeks, and I'm very disappointed. These albums are not newly published, but titles I used to have on cassette in the 80s and early 90s. So I expected to find a wealth of info. But no.
If you compare the data with the information on the AllMusic website, there are lots of differences and omissions. The website has plenty of reviews, but these are not added to Sooloos. Dates are wrong (re-issue dates are imported, in stead of the orininal). Only 'meta meta' credits appear (not the actual artists, but only mixing assistants etc., although AllMusic mentions both). Some albums cannot be found, though they are present in AllMusic.
Before Tidal integration, I mainly bought newly published albums. For these I expected to have a hard time grooming metadata. But it's really disappointing to have to do so much work for albums that are simply present in the AllMusic database.
9 times out of 10 I find myself having to correct the dates. I don't want the release date of the reissue, it's of no interest to me. I want the original release date otherwise it makes a mockery of "90s music", for example.
