Okay, from the sublime to the ridiculous!

For those of us who's formative years were in the eighties, this is just immense fun:

Ministry of Sound: Anthems Electronic 80s

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anthems-Ele...mp;s=music&qid=1264596949&sr=8-1

The tracks have been cleaned up nicely, possibly a bit of hot mastering, but then it was never audiophile stuff in the first place!

Get the kids to bed early this Friday night, crack open a bottle with the missus and relive your youth with some dancing that would have today's generation howling in derision!

Cheers

George

This is one of my favourites and might be a nice counterpart to yours George:

This is another favourite (love a bit of Giorgio Moroder) that I have on vinyl but I didn't know was available on CD (this may be getting purchased even at 33!).

The Haiti charity single "Everybody Hurts" reminded me to listen to the REM DVD-A where the engineering and mastering of the surround channels is amaZing on Everybody Hurts, but more so on Nightswimming

Haven't listened to the album yet, but my copy of Peter Gabriel's Scratch My Back (Deluxe Edition) has a voucher for a 24-bit/48Hz download of the whole album available from March 2 inside it.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

One of my favourite bands ' Porcupine Tree's last album ' The Incident ' is due out on DVD-A early next month . It also includes the songs from the originally released bonus CD in 5.1 .

Its different from their other albums in that it was written and is performed as a 55 minute song-cycle and part-homage to Pink Floyd's 'Animals' album ( which was Steven Wilson ,the songwriter's first purchased album )

Demands several listens but really grows on you and also comes across very well 'live' .

~M~

P.S. Available here for a tenner :

http://www.burningshed.com/store/porcupinetree/

P.P.S. Also coming soon is the follow-up live show to the acclaimed' Arriving Somewhere... ' called ' Anesthetise ' which be available as DVD and BD in May and also a luxury set including 2CD/DVD/BD and Book due in April.

OK, I now have two 24/96 downloads of Peter Gabriel's new album, as the B&W Sound Club unexpectedly just sent me one as well.

Subject to mod approval I think this means I can let one lucky Hitchhiker have the code that came in the CD without breaching copyright? First PM gets it.

Gary George was first, so download code will emailed to him when I get a chance at home.

Anyone looking for the download might still like to check out the B&W Sound Club, as you get lots of 24-bit albums from them every year, albeit a highly eclectic mix and you don't get a choice as to which.

I recently bought Peter Gabriel's new set...Scratch my back.

The 2 CD delux version carries an insert that gives access to a 48k version of the album. Not played it yet but the access is to the B&W Society of Sound website.
You get 3 months access for free and access to about 12 or so previously featured albums...many of which are also 24 bit.

So, for the 17 I paid for PG's album it's turned out to be quite a bargain !!!

Hurry whilst stocks last !!

I am sure everyone has heard it already, and it's an album that I have been meaning to get hold of for a long time but I finally picked it up from a record store in Exeter last week: Nina Simone's 'Baltimore'. The lovely surprise for me was the beautiful sound quality - being Nina, it was almost a given that it would be a deeply felt, genre-defying record. But I didn't really expect the lovely sound... much better than her 60s stuff on Colpix & Philips which tends to sound a little rough around the edges to me (although the 'I Put A Spell On You' album has its moments, and musically of course they are peerless).
