Is it me or has anyone experienced the same? London Grammar's If You Wait album, in particular the first track, Hey Now, half way through the bass becomes really uncomfortable and the volume, (about 45-50), has to be turned down. Other CDs and streamed content is fine and I don't get anything like the excessive bass, (to my ears). This is such a shame as I really like the album otherwise.

I went to see The Who at the O2 last Sunday and despite being very loud the bass was never excessive or uncontrolled so it's not that I don't enjoy music that's ramped up, so why on LG's CD?

By the way, for a 71 year old Roger Daltry can still produce stunning vocals.

I use that track as a bass demo track, I think it comes in about 1:20. It can sound excellent and there is a little distortion that is actually part of the recording (the little hiss at the end of the bass note). I think it shows whether your bass is out of control/you have room issues.

Curious that you have 700SEs as there was another report of bass issues on these.

Just listened to it on Tidal on two systems and seems fine.

Listened to it on CD and FLAC, no bass issues for me either.

Have you played around with the speaker positioning to see if helps, could be a bad reflection point?

I have exactly the same problem. MRC sorted it for me.

Love that album, and the bass is not a problem for me; like Tyler I think it's a bit of a demo track as it's so well recorded.

As Chris suggests, it's probably hitting a resonant frequency in your room... I've had plenty of those moments over the years!

Thanks for all the responses. I guess what I found confusing is that since upgrading to DSP's all other material I have played has been fine. I will have to experiment with minor speaker placement adjustment first, then perhaps initially some DIY bass traps to see how many/size are needed before investing in more aesthetically pleasing ones.

There are a couple of other tracks that I have listened to which has more over blown bass in my system than the London Grammar track. And those are Jay-Z, Magna Carta, Holy Grail. And Lorde, Pure Heroine, Royals.

Before I had MRC both tracks were unlistenable, now they are just very bass heavy. I have a huge peak at about 45Hz, and these tracks excite my room a lot.

It was me who had some bass problems with my DSP7200SE's. I still have some issues due to my current room dimensions and layout but playing this track sounds great, only the lowest bass tone is a little forward, but still very tight.
