I would like to know if the Meridian Core app behaves the same: I start the app, it loads (sloooowly) the cover art of my 10k albums. I start digging for something to match my mood and, after a while, the display goes into standby, of course.
Well, when I wake it up it behaves like it is restarting, it won`t remember where I left it, it will go again to the start point, loading again sloooow, really slow the images. I think my iPad won`t survive too long if it won`t change these habits!
Control:10, 2x Source:One, QNAP HS-251 (2*5TB RAID 0), Krell EVO-202, 2x Krell EVO-600, Bowers & Wilkins 800D, 2x Velodyne DD-15, Plinius SA Reference, Martin Logan CLX, 2x Martin Logan Descent and a few other nice toys..
Go into settings on your iPad, then on the left hand side of the window find the Core Control app, select it and then on the right hand side do two things
1: Turn on prevent sleep.
2: Enter the system core IP address.
Something to also be aware of is that after the Core has been rebooted it takes a while for the iPad to get all the library info, so if you turn the Core off regularly you will experience this situation.
I tried the "prevent sleeping" thingy, even went for a fixed Core address - nothing.
If I go to any other page in the "browse" section (except the first page when I turn it back on after it goes to sleep it won`t remember where I left it...
On your iPad, if you repeat my experience, can you see the last displayed page on the "browse" page or it will also start from the first page?
Regarding the loading speed, I am using a really good gigabit ASUS AC router that works flawlessly with my Mac. The NAS is connected by a CAT 6 cable, so the bottleneck could only be the iPad`s processor. Maybe, storing the cover art locally on the iPad could be a better approach for this app? Just an idea.
Thank you for your help.

I have never found the Core Control app to stay put when the iPad or app closes or goes into standby. This can be quite frustrating if you were 50 swipes into an album browse (especially when viewing by import date).
If viewing by artist it is not so bad as you can use the alphabet to get back to where you were pretty quickly.
The OP was complaining about slow loading of images, this is usually resolved by the two steps I provided, as for not remembering where you were when browsing your albums I agree it is annoying and has always been there, maybe todays update will fix it
Isn't it just that you have too many apps open on the background? This will make your iPad slower. If you doubleclick the home button next to the screen, you'll see which apps are open. You can then swipe them away, so they'll switch off. Just a thought.
Thanks for the tip. Got the latest one, the direct access function from the browse window is much better now, like on the Control, meaning that if I want Pink Floyd, I can now go to P then I then N, so I won`t have to wait for 17 pages of albums performed by artists named Pxxx to be loaded until I finally can reach my (precious) Floyds..
Anyway, providing I will ever move my lazy a..., if I will have some progress, I will hand it over to Meridian, I can`t share something like that to nobody. It would be illegal and immoral
What I would do: I would load just once all the cover art into the iPad, as for sure it would be faster to dig in the internal storage rather than downloading over wifi each time and I would just compare the databases on demand or at restart (not after each standby). I would start the app with the last database and I would display that it will take a few moments to parse the database just if the iPad app will notice differences at startup.
Well, if I will do it, I will email it to them, and If they will like it, they will share it. If not, this one is really good, too. In the end, we are in no hurry when we relax, isn`t it?
Thank you for your care!
Best regards
