Why does Meridian have a unique part number for their DSP5200 center channel speaker (DSP5200 vs DSP5200VC). What makes them different? Is the difference configuration only or is it hardware?
Iirc, on some models of DSP (6k?), left and right were asymmetric in shape so a centre had to be different again. As well as above answer, with DSPs that are symmetrical, Meridian are just treating them part number wise (pair vs VC) the same as their asymmetrical models.
Meridian owner since 1992 Prime & PSU, Focal Elear headphones, Roon (ROCK 8Gi5 NUC), Explorer 1 & 2, F80. 200/203, various Sonos (via Roon).
DSP5200 and DSP5200VC are the same hardware. Exactly what I thought and have heard. But then why does M-Config allow me to insert DSP5200VC and not allow me to insert DSP5200 in the center channel position?
I would think that's just the language of the program. If your using a Verticle speaker in the center, it's a VC as opposed to a HC or NC. Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
Precisely. It is so obvious that the fronts are a pair and the center is a single speaker that the program should sort that out. The fact that it doesn't prompted the question.
