I'm confused. Which CES was he referring to? "Last year's" was in Jan 2014...
Given the date of publication was Jan 2015, was this a pre-MQA/Tidal/7-digital NDA comment?

Presumably he is referring to new Sooloos (or perhaps even Sooloos 3) as the technology he cannot name under NDA?
Very disappointing that Hi Fi News also have zero mention of MQA in their current issue. In fact, the intro to their CES coverage states �There were no great tech breakthroughs this year, no paradigm shifts�. Since MQA qualifies in spades on both counts I�m not sure why these people are not at least reporting the concept. Very nice article in the Vintage section on the Meridian Component preamp though!

Can't be "new" Sooloos, it says "it will not be an expensive thing to purchase" and we all know that's not the Meridian way...

Since the MQA technologies are so innovative I am not surprised at the lack of good news coverage. The typical bloggers that conflate file size with fidelity are confounded by these developments.
The trained audio "ear" journalists such as TAS and Stereophile are super excited by the developments, as is the Tone publisher. I am looking forward to hearing it on 8000SE's for the first time in person in NYC soon.
This type of fundamental innovation will hopefully push other speaker manufacturers to improve their game, too as streamers and DAC builders license and upgrade their gear.

There is mention of MQA in the "Barry Fox" column in the March issue of HiFi News. There is also a nice review of the component preamp in the 'vintage hifi' section.
