One of my 2 Ensembles is not booting anymore. It is starting (LED lights up and I can hear the 2 standard 'cracks' from the hard drive ) but there is no beep and no network activity. But I can hear a gentle clicking (like a second hand on a clock) all three seconds (probably the hard drive)
I'm bound to say that starting the device is only possible by performing the Dead Power Supply procedure from the Wiki. Otherwise the Ensemble makes no move (no LED, no fan, nothing)
I've already changed the PSU and the hard drive and unplugged all cables, but no luck on that.
but the OP says he already has new PSU and new HDD, so maybe the motherboard has a fault. (The clicking sound could be the PSU trying to start and failing). Suggest check the cables between the PSU and the M/B for bad connection/crimp.
As you have 2x ensembles, and if you are brave enough (backup first!), exchange the M/Bs and or the cables from one ensemble to the other to narrow down the problem by substitution.
One other possibility (as I dont know the ensemble) is does the new HDD have to be partitioned to work from new completely unformatted state? If so, it could just be the unformatted drive is not being recognised.
The hard-drives were the first thing I checked, and they are OK. And the Ensemble should also start without hard drives. But it didn't.
I checked all cables and plugs, swapped RAM-Memory and also the 255 MB Memory on the IDE-Port. At the end I swapped the hole main board and I could verify the problem.
I'll try to get some information about the board and to have a replacement.
