Hi Listeners,

My 568.2 is very slow to respond, I've re-booted with the mains switch and cleared via the remote (new batts) but it's still sluggish.

Any ideas?

Is this while changing source, if so may be worth seeing if the product is slow when you have no source's connected.

Seen units go slow when the digital input sniffer Circuit is trying to work out the stream but has an internal fault causing the processor circuit to get too many signals.

If it still does it with no source connected then I would say it has a fault.

It's slow on all commands:
Volume
DSP
Source etc.

Switch it off and let it get to ambient room temperature (about two hours usually does it). Then turn it back on with all comms and digitally connected kit off (or in standby). See if it behaves then...

Is it slow also when you use the front panel, i.e. no MSR?

It's slow on panel and MSR.

I switched it off for 12 hrs and then rebooted, it seems nimbler again...

It probably has been on standby/on for at least 16 yrs and my DSP6Ks for even longer.
Should we give them a rest every now and then?

We used to leave valve kit on, but there were regular fails still, should we leave digits always on standby?

My 568.2mm does this sometimes when I plug it in to AC power after it has been unplugged for a while. Summer months I leave it unplugged due to lightning storms that can develop at any time while I am away at work.

Also sometimes a power surge will toggle the power and it will be sluggish after. I have a PS audio surge protection that will disconnect power if the power drops or goes up too high.

All I have to do is power cycle via the switch and it usually fixes this.

My neighbour chip designer says digital chips are good for 10 yrs.
This means all my M kit is about to wobble.
Anyother long time users of D6Ks and 568ii have problems of this nature?

I still have plenty of equipment with digital electronics from the early 90's that still work fine. My Sony TAE-2000 ESD preamp from 1992. Bought new back then. Still works great and I still use it in another part of the house! Digital electronics will last way more than 10 years. In fact all my electronics from the early to mid 90s still works fine.

Actually I was just thinking about in this... my 568.2mm has done this since it was new. Purchased Dec 2003. Sometimes it gets into a sluggish state when powered up. My older 568 didn't do this... lived with that for 4 years before I changed to the .2mm.
