Hi All,
I felt compelled to relay my feelings regarding the Explorer 2, I've been a Meridian fan for a number of years now. Although I must confess my technical understanding is very lacking compared with most on the forum, however that aside I'm just a huge music fan.
During the past week I have found myself fixated by the release of Explorer 2 and the MQA announcement, in fact I can honestly say that I have never been so enthusiastic about music. It's to the point where I have been telling all that I meet; the majority of which have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about!
Due to a recent house move I'm currently unable to enjoy the 5200's that I have and they are currently sat in a corner

. I therefore recently invested in a pair of Grado PS500 and decided that I would purchase an Explorer 2.
I was already very impressed with the PS500's even when just listening to Spotify. However during the last week not only have I been introduced to Explorer 2, MQA but also Tidal.
So the Explorer 2 arrived Friday and I could not believe the difference. Plugging and un-plugging the Explorer 2 really showed just how good the Explorer 2 is, transforming Spotify tracks (previously lifeless) into a dynamic and crisp sound stage.
Then came Tidal, just when I thought it could not get much better! This morning I subscribed to Tidal and I'm in yet another music stratosphere. Before when I listened to music I did find myself skipping tracks. Now I listen to every detail and the whole experience is elevated to a whole new listening experience.
The high fidelity volume 1 tracks on Tidal really demonstrate the capabilities of the Explorer 2 and couple this to the PS500's it really is music heaven. I'm currently listening to Pink Floyd and I can't even describe how good it is.
Very well done Meridian and at 199, incredible. I'm really struggling to see how MQA can take this to yet another level, however I know that if Meridian are involved then anything is possible.
I'm off for a lie down, not sure how much more I can take...
