Messing around with MConfig, I noticed that with an 861, once one had set up a 7 speaker layout, it was possible to have additional analog height speakers above the listener. I can't find anything in M's literature or manuals that refers to this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

This can be used for 2+2+2 playback only I think.

in 2+2+2 mode the center and sub signal are used for the 2 height channels. There is a setting where you select between it going to normal (center and sub) or sides and possibly heights if you would have them I guess.

It's an alternate speaker layout that ideally works with a 2+2+2 source like DVDA. You can have connect your speakers to that layout and also to the traditional layout. The M processor decide which speaker get used.

I think it's interesting when you have native sources but I have no experience.

And you know how good Trifield can sound even it's not a native source.

Of course you should have some space for the speakers left
