Has anyone tried this? Is there a program that would direct sync between computer and DSP speaker?

I have an old 5000 center, just thinking of something fun to try to get some use out of it.

Thanks

Do you mean use a PC to configure the speaker or to play music from the computer through it?

IMHO, M center speakers (at least in their current incarnation) are kind of useless to play L/R because they will only play L or R.

You need two to play stereo music or limit yourself to mono recordings smile

Most M owners would use the center speaker with an M. processor and two L/R speakers in a Trifield configuration, or HT in a 5.1 configuration.

Primary: 818v3+ID41, M6 stereo pair, M SpeakerLink cabling, Sonos+96kHz Cullen, silver DSW
HT: Marantz prepro, 271, DSP3300, 8K SE FL/FR pair, DSP M6x2, DSP320x4 (ceiling), black DSW, 520 RL/RR rear in-walls
Living Room: G65, 640 L/R in-walls, UHD722, MS600
Vac. Home: G61, HD621, 4xDSP3100, DSP3100HC

I did this with a 1st gen Apple TV with OSX on it. Used the program Pure Music to output stereo as mono and used a cheap USB to SPDIF converter (NuForce U192s) to connect to the DSP5000C.

It worked fine, but I discovered the 5000C is still a really big and heavy speaker, so there weren't to many places I could stash it that fit with the room (my wife noticed a big ugly speaker box every time). It wouldn't even fit on my shelves as it was too deep. Plus, it's weight prevents any dream of portability.

Living Room: TV-->Sonos Arc with Symfonisk rears and twin Sonos subs. Also, a set of DSP8000SE with a MiniDSP SHD for stereo listening.

I am using a pair of DSP33s directly connected via a Optical to Coax converter into the DSPs. I am just controlling the volume through my PC. May not be perfect for critical listening but works very well for me. Pretty easy good sound smile
