I read on this forum that the 2.63 firmware for DSP7200's can be distributed to users, but I'm having a hard time getting a response from my local M partner. Any ideas?

Hi,
If your local dealer can't supply, I suggest you contact one of the HH friendly dealers that post on here.
I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

I was under the impression that this new 2.63 firmware (over 1.6) would not impact the sound signature of the 7200.2, also after a PP confirmation on this, so I did not bother installing it. Reading the replies from Tintin and 11ldb in the HT upgrade topic from TartanB it does seem to change/improve it.
Who has the final word on this? Cheers!

I must admit that for most updates I sometimes struggle to hear the sonic differences but not in this case. Apart from the changes to the high end I noticed the bass to be a bit lean, which is very unusual for M speakers. I corrected this and the end results IMHO are a far more accurate soundstage.

I tried to start a thread on this here but I was told there was no difference and the thread was locked. I thought I'd better not say anything...

That's not quite so. It was clarified a few times that there was no EBA 1 and 2. We did not want that confusion opening up ...again.
You were not told there was no difference.
EBA is tweaked over time so there could be changes between versions. I certainly heard that over several iterations of Anniversary EBA.

We did not want that confusion opening up ...again. I think it was pedantry not confusion. I've not been confused. It was about the firmware update. A little heavy handed locking a thread on that basis but that's where we are now...
