On Thursday 19th June, we will be releasing new firmware for DSP3200, DSP3300 and DSW. The firmware will be posted on our partner website at approximately 10.00am (UK time).
New features included:
DSP3200/DSP3300/DSW - Added RS232 control (as DSP520, DSP640 and M6), including use of non-volatile memory. - Picks up Bass and Treble from SpeakerLink (with compatible controller).
Please note: This firmware release will allow EBA to be applied in systems made up of any combination of loudspeakers from our current range.
As mentioned in an earlier message, we will be releasing a new version of the Meridian Configuration Program (MConfig) along with new firmware for the following products; 861v6, 861v8, 818v1, 818v2, 808.3 and 808v5. Beta testing is going well and we expect to provide release dates soon. These releases will provide full compatibility for features such as EBA to be controlled over SpeakerLink.
In the meantime, EBA activation is available in some systems using these controller products only if selected during the relevant configuration process on the speakers involved. On speakers with a display, this is done using the Configuration menu; on speakers with no display, it is done by sending RS232 commands from a PC.
If you would like to know about the possibilities within any particular system - as things stand or in the future - contact your Premium Partner for clarification. The number of combinations means they may need to check with us, but we'll be ready to fill any gaps in their knowledge.
As usual, full descriptions of the changes included in the firmware will be available from Thursday in the release notes posted on the Partner Hub section of our website. [See, link at the bottom of forum page]
Please be assured that we know that some of you are eagerly awaiting the firmware included in the next batch of updates. I'm happy to say that we are well on the way to having it ready to be released.

RS232 via PC, interesting, how is that done?
I think this means the activation you can do with the setup menu on a DSP with display, meaning setting to EBA=On/Off/SL. Then you use your controller (861 etc.) to change settings further.
In other words, not intended as a replacement for toggling on the fly from the controller.
Does it make sense to upgrade my 861v6 and the DSP5200SL (Front, Center and Right) speakers to it with the rear and side not EBA capable?
Absolutely! You only have to upgrade the 5200SL firmware. You will get a substantial improvement for free. To align the rear speakers see this posting:
