Hi,

Both my 5K's need some attention. When I bought them the fabric on the grilles had come away in a few areas from the plastic grille.

Having a 27 month old doesn't help either so I really want to get them fixed as soon as possible.

Is there any 'special' glue I should use? I would hate to use the wrong stuff and damage the fabric.

Thanks in advance.

Craig

If it's not too bad, I would wedge it in with a piece of card. I think people use impact adhesive ( Evostick) as it gives a brief moment of movement before it becomes fixed. If you do it, I would practise first and careful with the corners. Worth googling for comprehensive tips.

I have tried several methods and avoid glue at all costs too messy.
The best method so far is to source cable ties (black preferably) of the right dimension, cut off both ends, stretch grille cloth over the groove in plastic frame and gently tap cable tie into the groove using a rubber mallet thus securing the fabric.
Take great care with Mk1 DSP 5K grille frames the mechanical strength between the top and bottom sections is very poor. These can be glued to give extra strength but if anyone does this, I strongly advise that paper (3 x A4 sheets are inserted between the frame and the grille cloth before applying glue very sparingly.
Good luck Hector

Thank you very much for the replies.

I was thinking of wedging something into that channel and cable ties with the ends cut off sounds good.

I have many sizes at home so I'll give it a go and be careful and see what happens.

If for some reason I'm not successful I'll post back here.

Thanks again everyone. This forum is so great and helpful.

Ok I just used the match method and works well. Obviously as long as you don't really play with them too much it will do the trick. Having a 28 month old will challenge this though lol.

Thanks for the ideas.
