Thanks for the tip - now downloaded & about to be installed BUT the link to info on this fails to materialise anything but "The page cannot be found".

Grrrrrrr. Makes following "PLEASE carefully read the instructions included with the downloads" a bit impossible!

Well, downloaded, upgraded.

Re-calibrated and letting RC run as I type.

So far so good.

Downloaded and installed the new software and firmware. Absolutely no problems with installing either of them. Meridian has obviously done a lot of work to make the installation of six files to the 861 both automated and painless.

So far so good on the modes although I am waiting to redo room correction until I see what has changed (the link to what is new with the 4.1 upgrade on the Meridian site didn't work for me).

Unfortunately, I've got one problem from the install. My 800 and 861 won't communicate to each other properly. I have turned each on and off several times and hit clear. The 861 says controller and the 800 not controller. Go to play a DVD under the DVD preset and the 800 insists the source is DSS and the 800 volume display no longer tracks the 861 volume display. Hit the display button and the 800 scrolls through its screens but the 861 shows nothing at all - totally blank. 861 will respond to and show correctly 861 specific commands in the display. All the 800 and 861 buttons other than display respond to the remote correctly. I am using and have correcly selected the old MSR remote in the software and am using the latest setup software 2.209. Tried reloaded the setup software to the 800 and 861 another time with no improvement. Thoughts or experiences from other downloader/ upgraders?

The readme is in with the files.

Try re-typing the 861.

You have to use the new GUI. Be sure that the 861 lists 3C as the comms type for the 800 source. This is on the advanced tab.

mw:

The link to the upgrade pdf is fixed now.

Webmaster must have gotten a report of the broken link.

Cheers,

mwiebelhaus,

after updating the firmware and fetching the config file from the 861 I noticed that "Meridian DVD present" was no longer checked. So, you need to re-check it. Maybe that is the problem.

I thought the new GUI was only for the G series right now?

Thanks for the tips but I tried all of them and none of them fixed the problem with the comms. The comms were working perfectly before the upgrade so I know the upgrade has caused the problem. Other thoughts?
