On my old iPad 'original' (or '1'), when I switch to another app and come back it reloads, and thus loses the position. Annoying at times. Does that still occur with the iPad Air? I am not sure what is happening with yours but I just tried opening another app from both the Browse and Queue screens. When I reopened Meridian Control I was right back the the place I left before opening another ap. Not sure what you are seeing. I will try it on my iPad 3 too.

I think they are refering to the fact that if you select P for example in the selection alphabet and close the app, when you return it is back at A or page 1, if you like. If you have an album open, it remains there. You can't hold a place there as selecting brows brings you back to page 1. Chris

Thanks, my guess is my old iPad doesn't have enough memory left to keep it active, or something like that. If the iPad air doesn't have then that adds to the upgrade excuses...

The way that Core Control recovers from being in background can be significantly improved.
I've got a mini browser that I have written using the public API and recovery from background is visually transparent to the user even though a number of requests are being made to ensure that state (things like current track, volume and zones) are being reloaded. Whilst these requests take a short period to be fulfilled, there is absolutely no reason why the searching for core screen display and browser position change need to be so intrusive.

I picked up an iPad Air this weekend. It makes Core Control quite responsive. I find the app loads quickly and screen refreshes are quick. As another poster noted, swiping the screen either direction results in screen refreshes that are very quick indeed. I find the overall experience of Core Control with Air closes the gap with the C15 interface to the point that the difference in speed is not large any more. I had no quirks with IOS 7.0.3 of any kind this weekend.
BTW, the form factor of the Air is way better. The decreased width, somewhat thinner depth and weight of 1/3 less makes the Air nicer to use. It is easy to pick up with one hand and pleasant to hold in your lap or otherwise balance while selecting music. I love this update!

The main delay with recovering from bacground is that Core control reloads the entire queue.
If the queue is large this can take some time. This is a brute force programming method that by definition is very reliable but there are sophisticated programming methods that would make this unnecessary and quick

I have still not updated my OS (6.1.3 on my v3 iPad (mc705nf)) to 7 because of the issues I read in this string of comments. I guess this is still the best OS for the MDMS app or am I safe now to update.
The app is my main use on the iPad.
Thanks.

I'm still waiting to see if the sluggishness introduced by iOS 7 on the iPad 3 is resolved in a later update. I really notice sluggish performance and, as I posted here earlier, iOS 5 destroyed my original iPad experience. Not again...

I've just updated my iPhone 5 and iPad 4 to iOS 7 for the first time - to the version (7.0.3 I think?) which came out a few days ago.
With the Meridian Core Control app I have only noticed a brief flash of a Meridian logo over the top of the app when switching apps from something else back into Sooloos, but no bad behaviour. In fact I briefly regained my radio channel logos which had disappeared with (I think) the last Sooloos update. But then they went away again. No biggy.
(As for iOS 7 in general, I actually quite like it. Turning off the animation makes it quite nice to use, my two devices are definitely a bit snappier with it, and battery usage on the iPhone in particular has improved. But of course they're relatively recent devices.)

A quick follow up to the "missing control buttons" issue in this thread. As part of the recent changes to the forum we discussed at length and agreed with HQ that we would help to highlight to them genuine and persistent bugs and issues that get raised here on HH. The missing button bug is now definitely logged with HQ. We (or even HQ ) will update as soon as there is any news on this.
Rgds, Nick
