I am trying to replce the two existing 1TB drives with 2 new un-formatted 4TB Seagate drives in the TwinStore.

After the new drives been placed in the TwinStore, it is beeping and it is being formatted. The problem is that it is still beeping after 100 Mins; I assume the system is experiencing a problem formatting the new drives.

What should I do now? Turn it off and try again or else?

Anyone could offer some advise, please.

Hi,

I run 3TB Seagate drives, they took less than 30 minutes to format.

I think you are the first person on here to report on attempting to using 4TB drives in a Sooloos Store.

My only suggestion would be to power it off and try again.

I assume your Sooloos system is up to date software wise.

Regards,
Carl

Thanks for a quick reply.

In fact, the beeping sound is a 4 beeps continuous sound, not a single beep. Does that mean it had been formatted?

Should the TwinStore re-boot in its own, or should I turn it off and re-boot maunally.

Thanks.

Hi,

During format it should make a single short beep once every 10 seconds, once compete it makes one 'fancy' longer multi-toned beep.

Once you hear that final sound it should automatically be available for use without having to re-boot. If it not there's no harm in powering down and switching one again.

Have you looked at the core's debug web screen?
http://<IP Address of Core>/debug
What does it report about the TwinStore?

Regards,
Carl

I never managed to get my TwinStore to format 3TB drives, maybe I didn't wait long enough, In the end I formatted them in my MD600 and then moved them into the TwinStore, if you get the 4TB to format correctly that would be good news indeed.

I had a little issue with the drive sitting properly inside the TwinStore. Now, I managed to re-site the drives and I am happy to report to the Forum members, the TwinStore did manage to Format the two brand new 4TB Seagate drives and report a total storage capacity of 3.92TB in Control:PC.

It is all working, my Sooloos Control:PC is running the Restore program and it seems all working nicely.

Good news for anyone wishing to upgrade to a 4TB drives.

Congratulations!

Could you report the exact model number of the discs, just for the record?

That's excellent news, thank you for letting us all know.

Hi Chi,

This sounds really good, I'm just about buying two 4TB disks for my TwinStore!
Can you please specify which model of Seagate drive you used?

Regards
Christofer

The 4TB hard drive that was installed and formatted by the TwinStore was a:

Seagate ST4000DM000BOX 4TB 5900rpm, 64MB, SATA 6Gb/s, NCQ

The information is the exact information appeared on the box package cover.

One point worth noting, after the TwinStore formatted the drive (a multiple beeps), I had to switch the TwinStore off and re-boot before Control:PC show correctly the 3.92TB storage space. Before the re-boot, TwinStore indicated 0 GB storage space.

Hope the information is useful.
