Hello

I have purchased a new 105 player and I have a question about hooking up the player using the RCA output connections to my Meridian 861v4 (IA45 Card).

[Linked Image from oppodigital.com]

I understand the front right & left and the sub and centre but I don't know what to connect up either the (SR & SL) or (SBR & SBL) to the right rear and left rear connections of the IA45 card.

I posed this question to Oppo and got the response below:

I spoke to Marc Koval and he said to hook up the SBR & SBL to the Right Rear and Left Rear of the IA45 Card. This makes the most sense to me!

I dont know which method is correct. I hooked it up according to what Oppo said (I asked them twice on the phone to be sure).

I just dont get much information out of my rear speakers now but my side surrounds seem overwhelmed.

I had a Pioneer Elite player before with only 5.1 RCA outputs connected to the IA45 and it worked perfectly for many years.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
John

My Oppo 93 has a setup test signal screen that you can check channels with.

Hi John,

I'm curious that your going down this route why not just use you HD621?

Carl

Often useful to set up a phantom for SACD or DVD-A playback or if your already using all the HD621 inputs. I hope the next one is at least 821!

Hi,

For testing / comparison that's understood, thou I would have thought the digital connection would best the analogue.

It would still be good to have feedback from John to get his view.

Regards,
Carl

Thanks everyone for all the great replies. Very much appreciated feedback.

I just wanted to do as Carl said for comparison. I set up the Oppo on HDMI with two phantoms. One digital and one high res analog.

Just wanted to play a bit.

I have been doing a lot of rewiring and it is very tedious to keep it neat.

I got the Sony 4k and am super happy with it. My old Pioneer Elite rear projection unit died a few years ago and I have been without, waiting for something new. So I jumped even knowing that the OLED's are just around the corner.

I have never been a fan of 3D even at the best of movie theaters. But man alive it is unreal with the 4k TV.

I purchase a linear power supply from Marc Koval for my 861v4 and when I got it in the post I took it apart and had the chassis black anodized. Man it looks great even though I can't see it now! Lol

Me, my ears and eyes love this stuff but when we start talking bit rates and Hz my brain goes gaga! Cant seem to get a grip on this stuff like you guys so thanks for all the help!

Thanks again!
John
