This forum has been so good for me..
I recently bought a 596 and a 500 series (new) MSR here
Issue I have is that I didn't realise that the 500 MSR comes in two versions, the later model with a DVD selector button.
I assume for this reason I'm not able to control the 596 which is my CDT, or could it be an issue with the 596?
My MSR has a CD function selector but it doesn't operate my 596. moving jumpers from option one to four I configured the MSR to control my 601 and it works perfectly so I'm positive the MSR is in perfect working condition.
Let me know your thoughts please.
Also, it would be great if anyone has a later MSR I could use to test and programme my All in One remote.

The seller should have known which model is used for the 596/598

Jon, the seller (me) having never had a 596/598 did not know.
Zak, I know you are using it now to control your 600 kit, but if it is unsuitable for your 596 and you wish to return it for a refund, that's no big deal. Just PM me to arrange.

The problem may be that I hard-configured the 596 to be a non-controller so it might be ignoring the remote control. Try re-typing it and configuring it for 200/600 series comms.
You should not need the video UI but if so it might be a bit confusing that the menu structure is different from the ones in the user manual - the player has the most up to date software which has a different UI.

Carl, thanks for the offer but it's mint and I don't have any regrets or complaints about my MSR purchase. Jonathan suggested I ask the seller of the 596 what remote he used, and Ian (596 seller) has responded with some good advice which I'm fairly certain will solve my issue. I've got to say I really like the folks on this forum. Everyone is polite, respectable and very helpful

Type setting changed to restore defaults as Ian suggested. Problem solved. MSR now controls 596 Thanks everyone.
