As this is non-Hifi and non-HT, I thought that here would be an appropriate place to post this.

I was reading a business publication when I came across the financial figures for B&W, the loudspeaker manufacturers. These show sales last year of �133M (up 4.3%) and profits of �11.2M (up 71%).

I had no concept of how large B&W actually were. AFAIK this is about 10 times the size of Meridian.

B&W are ultimately owned by a Bermuda registered company. Food for thought.

Someone once told me that MLP licences account for a significant portion of their revenue stream. Every BR player sold that decodes the HD codecs makes money for Meridian.

Didn't M sell the MLP rights to Dolby and use it to buy the Tag Maclaren factory?

Commercially it would have made more sense to negotiate a royalty stream and use that to get a mortgage on the old Tag factory.
ARM, for example still makes a few pence out of the older ARM cores in budget phones and embedded devices, when they could have made more upfront by selling their IP.
