Have anyone used both of those two processors? Could I consider the G61 is a G68 without video board?
How is the difference on analogue output audio performance?

The G61 is (functionally) more like a 568.2mm but with multichannel analogue in. The G61R is effectively a G68 in smaller box without some of the features - like as you say, without video.

Sound signature wise, not sure how G61 compares with 568.2mm and G68/G61R.

The G61 was not around for long - it was relatively quickly replaced with G61R and I believe that it was a far more significant change than simply adding MRC.

Thanks Ian,

Is there anyone actually used a G61?

I had a G61R and a G68J in my system at the time about a year ago. I found them very hard to separate, and I think the G61 has far more in common with the G68 than the 568. The only thing that would put me off using a G61 is the price premium over the G68.

I've used both. I moved from G68 to G61 for aesthetic and space reasons.

No difference in the sound processing. Obviously room correction is another matter.

I have a G61, and quite like it, upgraded from 561.

That said, my system has changed and I now use it mostly for switching video sources (audio only) in a two channel system.

If you're interested, PM me through the board.

I have a G61 that I am very pleased with. But I cannot compare to a G68 - sorry. I use mine for 5.1 Blu-Ray and MCH SACD playback.

When I asked about the 68 versus the 61, I would get video processing with the 68 and I did not need it, so went with the 61.

I also did not look for a G61R as I already have low end correction for my system and the additional cost did not seem worth it to me.

Its taken me a fair bit of time to get what I feel is the best from the G61R but its very good indeed

Having the built in MRC is a great tool, but a tool that needs manually working with if you ask me to get the best from it. I dont think the auto setup using the spl metre is that great.

You can use REW to measure - then use REWs Generic EQ Filters to give you the best filters to put into MRC for each channel (trick being not to over do the equalizing)

But having all that happen in the digital domain inside the G61R before its converted to analogue for the first time cant be beaten for sound quality if you ask me.
