I generally have good luck importing metadata from AMG, even when Control:PC doesn't "find" the album automatically, by manually filling in either the ROVI Music ID or, occasionally, the AMG Pop ID. But I tried the other day to import a very recent release--Old Yellow Moon by Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell--that has a full entry in AMG and nothing I did would cause Control:PC to find that record. I tried filling in both numbers, different combinations of filling in or leaving blank the album title and both artists.

My conclusion was that Control:PC/Meridian was perhaps accessing a cached or not fully updated version of AMG, rather than what I presume is the 'latest' version that one can access online. Does anyone know if this is the case or the specifics? Better yet, does anyone know of a trick or secret code that would allow the Import process to access that AMG record that is obviously there in the online version?

Thanks,
Jerry

Contrary to popular belief, Sooloos uses its own music lookup service and not the online AMG/Rovi one. So the issues then come down to the integrity of the Meridian database rather than third party ones. Personally, I think it could be better and I think Meridian know that too. Work in progress I hope.

That would certainly explain it, Ian. It does lead me to wonder then what the connection is to AMG, since it seems to pull the review directly from the one posted on AMG and filling in the Rovi/AMG ID numbers usually does manage to create a link to something. Is the Sooloos music lookup service based on AMG/Rovi somehow, sharing some, if not all, of the same metadata? Seems as though they must be connected somehow....

Thanks.

I have wondered about this. It's always seemed to me that some of the credit titles (can't think of one offhand) in AMG are different to those used in Sooloos.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Agreed, the credit titles do not match or correlate perfectly. One that comes to mind is "Primary Artist" in AMG, for which "Main Performer" is the closest I think I've found in the default credit titles in Sooloos. And I've never really analyzed carefully what is being brought over in credits--only the ones for which Sooloos has a matching credit title?? I should look more carefully someday.
