I notice that Meridian Room Correction is available only in the multichannel processors (861, G68, G61) and not in the stereo (2-channel) processors (818, 808). Is there a specific reason for this? It can hardly be an oversight. Is Merdian's position that room correction is effective only in a multichannel system?I don't see why and I am hoping someone can shed some light on this.
Thanks,
Kaushik

Hi Kaushiksf, not much light from me but the M6 speakers have DSP features for room height, reflective surfaces and boundary position. These features are visible on the 818 but only work on the M6s (as yet). Meridian works in mysterious ways...

Thanks for the information Tintin. It seems to me that Meridian is still in the process of integrating Sooloos/MDMS with the rest of Meridian and this sort of discrepancy will be resolved at some point in the future.

My next guess is that room correction is only on Freescale DSP chips.

Another guess is that in the 818/808 architecture there is no (spare?) Freescale based processing power for room correction, but instead implemented a mini RC on the xCORE chips in 818. This has also filtered to other xCORE based products thus justified the development effort. Now that xCORE is mandatory in the latest reference products by virtue of the USB input card, I can see that chip being utilised for more standard functions that the Freescale chips may previously have handled.

Most likely will get ported sometime in the future. Maybe precision increase as well. All speculation ofcourse.
