I think it is time for Meridian to come up with a more sophisticated solution for processor control than the infra red MSR remote control. Most manufactures of AV Receivers now days include IP control via beautiful iPad apps. The expensive solutions of Creston and AMX panels for RS232 control are out of reach for most of us.
Therefore I think that Meridian should develop some new hardware (an interface bridge from RS-232 to IP) that can be connected to our home network and a new iPad app in order to control and have 2 way communication with our Processors.
Lets see how many of you will find this idea interesting and perhaps we can then pass our views to Meridian for future development.

Something like these? IP2SLJust installed along with roomie remote software to good effect in my theatre and 2 other hubs involving AV receivers. IP control with IR capability for legacy components if you will.

Jonathan as regard to video on Sooloos it may be quite difficult due to the large storage required unless the video files can be stored on external NAS similar to Imerge or Kaleidescape Servers. But if you are looking for a down to earth solution then the Popcorn hour A300 with a 3Tera Hard Disc is the best solution. It also has a fantastic iPad app called NMJ Navigator that displays all your Movies with cover art similar to Sooloos app. It supports all kinds of video files including iso files.

No converter necessary, just use ID4x Sooloos card as IP command port. Many IP commands are already present.

The iRule system uses the Global Cache converters and will give you two-way RS232 control over IP. They have a highly customizable iOS GUI and all the Meridian codes in their database. They have been around for at least three or four years. I am still using my Pronto TSU2000 which I have had for over a decade. It works fine for my relatively simple setup, but if I wanted to make the switch to something slicker it would be iRule. Of course, then I'd have to spring for another iPad.

Also take a look at the Roomie app to control Global Cache devices. Very nice front end.
