Although I have checked the "delay to audio sources to avoid DTS noise" in the legacy configuration program setup, I still get annoying tick tick noises when playing movies recorded in DTS or DTS-MA . This occurs regardless of the Blu-ray player I use (formerly Pioneer BDP-LX70, now Oppo BDP-103).
The chain is: Oppo -> HD621 -> 568.2 -> amp -> speakers.
Any suggestions on how to overcome this noise?

You should be decoding in the Oppo so the DTS setting in the 568 should be irrelevant.
Can you confirm Oppo is outputting PCM?

Since the Oppo has dual HDMI outputs, try running two cables - one to the HD621 and a second to your video source (such that the vido output of the HD621 has no cable attached to it).

"Annoying tick tick" noises is not how I would describe the burst of raw DTS that one hears if one doesn't have the DTS delay activated. Are you sure the "annoying tick tick" is something to do its DTS?

You should be decoding in the Oppo so the DTS setting in the 568 should be irrelevant. Agreed. However, IIRC, all of the DTS advanced formats have a regular DTS "core" which is output over SPDIF and *could* be output over HDMI depending on settings, so that is another possible valid (lossy) path.

VK, quite possibly. However, in the system outlined I would say that PCM should be the optimal config into the HD621.

Absolutely. *Massive* difference between lossy decoded in the processor and lossless decoded in the player (in lossless' favour!).

HDMI Audio needs to be set to LPCM in the player config, you can confirm this by pressing Fn+Display a few times on the MSR, I'm pretty certain a 568.2mm will show Mov6 if the player is decoding DTS-MA to LPCM.
If it is decoding DTS-MA to LPCM, I would check the connections on the HD621 and the 568.2mm are seated properly.

You are right about my description - not "ticks", but more like pops or crackles. My bad.

Can you confirm Oppo is outputting PCM? The output was set on auto (default), and I've corrected it to output LPCM. The noises have gone. Thanks for the advice. One other question - I've set HDCD encoding to "off" in the player. Is this correct to get maximum resolution when using the 568.2MM?

Glad the LPCM sorted the issue. If you allow HDCD decoding I think you will send 44.1/24 files to the HD621. So, these should still be up sampled to 88.2/24. No harm to leave it on for the very few discs that carry HDCD.
