Similar thread on media forum re ID41. Appears that there is a version 8 of firmware, did your dealer install the new firmware.

Firmware 8 is shown as being for 861v4 v6 and v8. That suggests it should work with ID40 or ID41?

861v4, 861v6 and 861v8 v8.0

I was also told not to fit my ID40 to my 861v8 as Meridian were still testing that combination. It sounds as though they have now reached a conclusion.

Hopefully they will tweak the firmware to enable both/either or separate firmware for each one.

Ouch, a software developer's nightmare:

ID40 in 861v6
ID41 in 861v6
ID40 in 861v8
ID41 in 861v8

plus variations in the other cards possible with each combination which might introduce other further variables.

I speculate that as the chips on the ID40 and ID41 are configured differently, the tasks shared between cards and main 861 boards may be different. This may mean it is a challenge to make them work in all combinations with the same firmware.

Making the ID41 a mandatory part of the upgrade isn't a disaster but it isn't the flexibility originally understood.

Am sure we'll get clarity on this topic over the coming days.

I have got new information about 861v8 and ID40/ID41. It seems to be a hardware problem in the new cards. The same fault occured for ID40 and ID41. Waiting for the problem to be solved.

Is there any update to this?

Actually, I'd love some clarification of whether it's specifically the ID41 which appeared to have a hardware problem, or if some problem had turned up in the other updated cards which constitute the base 861v8 upgrade... and whatever the problem might have been, if progress has been made in resolving it.

I'm anxious to get the v8 update done to my 861v6, but obviously I'll want to cool my upgrade ardour (somehow) until the hardware is stable.

I'd be grateful for whatever info anyone can share.

I have used my 861v8 for about 2 weeks now. It sounds great but sometimes there is no sound comming out at all. Sometimes when I change tracks from my Sooloos the sound disappear. There is also a problem playing DVD no sound at all. I have to switch to another input and the back to DVD to get the sound. I think my upgraded 861 behaves very random.

As my other posts indicate, I had my 861v6 and 808.3 upgraded early last month. Both have worked perfectly and with outstanding performance ever since.

The 808.5 upgrade involved swapping the standard ID40 card for an ID41. I do not run Sooloos but the card was tested by my dealer.

As I say, I do not run Sooloos so I did not buy an ID41 card as part of the upgrade to 861v8.

Is the servicecenter informed about this issue? Will you return the 861v8 to them?

Couldn't that all be simply a config problem?
